“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is
that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that
most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not
serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children
do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not
just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we
unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated
from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
Above is one of the excerpt from Marianne Williamson’s A Course in
Miracles and also from the movie Coach Carter
Whenever I remember this line or
come across it, I feel the suddenness of it. So true its written, many times we
come across a situation, where we lye low so others don’t feel insecure from us
rather than giving over full potential, we just do things for the sake of doing
it so no one see us as a competition!!
I have always been thinking on
same line, I was shrinking my ability so others like me, till I came to this
quote in the movie Coach Carter few years ago, which brought my feelings and
concern in right words. Rather than shrinking oneself, one should shine bright
and show the world what quality instills in him.
Now i ask myself what I have
achieved by lying low and what I could have if I didn’t; and the answer from
within comes that I did it wrongly!! I would have been more confident and
successful than today. Even after this realization I am not able to change
much, still same fear haunts me, I still behave the same!!
I cannot conclude this because
this fear, this feeling is still incomplete!!!
